Hi Yannick, this is the second time for the Arena Race, what do you think of this race ? We had some good feedback from the last year race, and we wanted to try this year by ourselves. The facility are very good with a nice US style layout and a experienced organisation staff. There was a lot of international drivers coming from Spain, England, Czech republic, France. For sure a race you should not miss.
Which engine combination did you use for this race ? I didn’t change for my usual powerplant : Plus 4 for the Buggy race, and Toro Nero for the Truggy. I used the 9901 super-strong tuned pipe with the short parabolic manifold in both class. I keep the soft clutch, but our engine are so linear, the drivability is every time very good, whatever the clutch set-up.
It seems you dominated this race, what did happened ? We choose the most comfortable set-up : on this track, the most important thing is “Stay on the wheels !” We decided to focus on consistent driving, but the main thing is we have a huge avantage in Fuel consumption. We were able to make a 9 minutes easy in Truggy and again an easy 11.30 in Buggy. This is of course an advantage when you can earn one or to pit stop on your competitors
Your Arena result marks a very strong end to the season for you, not forgetting the win in Pierrefeu, how do you rate your chances for 2010 ? It was quite a good racing year and for the year with Novarossi we have a superb drivability and I had some nice wins like Euro Warm up, Pierrefeu and the Arena, and at the end of the year, I felt more comfortable with the car.
Despite the tracks being completely different, you won at both Pierrefeu and in Italy at the Arena race, what are your thoughts on this ? With a good strategy in both races I was fast and comfortable, and it’s right I had a better balance on European layout at the end of the year. It drives me confident for 2010
